During a training event, the trainer/instructor has EMDR Chicago’s authority to address concerns that arise in real time. Every effort will be made to resolve concerns during the training, including, when appropriate:
Changing practice partners or group assignments
Addressing learning environment issues
Clarifying content, pacing, or instruction
Resolving participant conduct concerns in accordance with training expectations
Formal Grievances
If the trainer is unable to resolve the concern, or if the concern involves the trainer, CE administration, or program policies, the complaint must be submitted as a formal grievance in writing.
Submit formal grievances to:

Social Worker Grievances and Conflict of Interest
If a social worker participant has a grievance, it will be reviewed by the EMDR Chicago CE Program Administrator. If there is a conflict of interest, EMDR Chicago will appoint an alternate reviewer, an independent consultant, or a designated licensed social worker reviewer, who will have final authority regarding resolution.
EMDR Chicago’s approach to resolving grievances is guided by what is in the best interest of the participant while maintaining fairness, ethical practice, and the integrity of the CE program.
Review Timeline
All complaints and grievances are acknowledged within 5 business days.
Formal written grievances will receive a written response within 10 business days, unless additional time is needed to investigate, in which case the participant will be notified of the expected resolution date.
Possible Resolutions
If a grievance is found to have merit, EMDR Chicago may, at its discretion:
Move the participant to another comparable training (if available), or
Provide a credit toward a future EMDR Chicago training, or
Provide a partial or full refund of the training fee
Any credit or refund granted as part of a grievance resolution will be documented for recordkeeping purposes.
Conflicts of Interest Statement
