Intro to Polyvagal in Practice (w/ focus on Dissociation)

Move beyond understanding Polyvagal Theory and learn how to actually work with the nervous system in the room.

Recognizing a nervous system state is one thing. Knowing what that state is telling you about your client — and how to use that information clinically — is another.

In this 3.5-hour Small Group Intensive, you'll learn how to use Polyvagal Theory as a practical map for complex trauma and dissociation. We'll explore what's happening within different autonomic states, how neuroception of safety, danger, and threat shapes survival responses, and how that information can help inform your clinical strategy.

Using a BASK-informed Body Worksheet and a non-verbal IFS parts interview, you'll move from identifying what's happening to tracking it through the body and understanding what your client may need next.

By the end of this training, you will:

  • Understand ventral, sympathetic, dorsal, and blended states and how they relate to complex trauma and dissociation

  • Recognize dissociation as adaptive nervous system protection rather than resistance

  • Practice using the Trauma Traffic Lights, BASK Body Worksheet, and DES as nervous system maps

  • Experience a non-verbal IFS parts interview integrated with body-first tracking

  • Practice shifting nervous system states through experiential application

What makes this training different?

This training is intentionally small and interactive, with a maximum of 17 participants so there is space for questions, discussion, and application.

You’ll learn through teaching, clinical discussion, real EMDR consultation cases, and guided application. Rather than simply learning more about Polyvagal Theory, you’ll work through how to recognize what is happening in the nervous system and use that information to inform what you do next clinically.

The goal is to leave with practical tools you can begin applying immediately with your complex trauma clients.
